Timothy Luke - 6 Months Later

October 30th of last year I can remember very vividly. I'm not sure if time will make this memory fade or if I will always remember it just as it was. I remember being scared, I remember that this day was the first time getting an IV almost made me pass out, I remember being some what held together until my water broke and then I lost it, I remember the pain (physical and emotional) and I remember exactly what my sweet little Timothy looked like, every single little detail.

In the days after, I didn't know how I would every get over this. I lost a baby, I lost a child, a child that didn't actually take a breath outside of my womb, how was I supposed to process this, how was I supposed to move on, should I, could I? I remember thinking about what coming to Timothy's due date would feel like. Really, at the time, I couldn't even imagine how I'd make it to that point. Trying to imagine feeling any better then I did at that moment was basically, well, un-imaginalble.

Here I am today, about a week or two past when he was estimated to arrive and I am thankful to say I am in a better place than I was about six months ago. My heart is not fully healed, I haven't gotten over it, and I'm not sure I ever really will, but I'm better. I'm not dwelling on the negative parts of Timothy's loss, but focusing on what good has come from it.

In my original blog post letting the world know about Timothy I wrote this, "I believe every life should be celebrated, not matter how short that life was. I also believe that God only gives us what we can handle and walks with us in our journey". When I wrote this I knew deep down I believed it and it's words I had shared with others going through hard times, but after experiencing what I have the last couple of month I can actually attest to it. Whole heartedly I can say I actually believe it.

Honestly, I don't know where I would be if I couldn't rely on God to take the pain away. Yes, my family and friends are great support systems, but they can't physically bear my burden, but my God can, and he did. There were nights and still are, just less often, that I need to add to my prayers that HE please take the pain away to please re-aline my thoughts and almost immediately I would feel my body slump and I could fall asleep. It's hard to explain, but it's a feeling I have never felt prior to losing Timothy and it's like being wrapped in a hug, very real hug.

Today, my marriage is stronger, friendships are stronger and life in general is a little better. Life is too often taken for granted, again something I think we all know and experience at some point in our life, but having it taken abruptly and so personally it's a personal reminder to live each day to the best of my ability. To not take even the littlest things for granted. I am on this earth for a reason and I need to thank God he chose me to live this life, I am blessed beyond what I deserve.

There is still healing to be done and I still am taking it day by day. My good days have become much more frequent then bad over the last six months and I'm sure they'll continue that way. I'm not over it, I don't miss Timothy any less, I am just better at processing what has happened, I'm learning to accept it and trust God and his plan for me and our family.

Jase turns TWO

It's still shocking to myself to say I have a TWO year old! People warned me time would fly by and they were right!

This last year has been my favorite. Jase's first year had a lot of ups and downs and even though I enjoyed it through all that, this years topped his first year, easily. Two is a fun age! He talking more (which let's face it makes life a million times easier), loves to play outside, loves to eat, loves to read and still loves his movies! His favorite toys are anything to do with cars, trucks or planes, he's all boy that way. Jase has become more and more of a little lover. He loves to give kisses and hug (on his own terms) and loves to say hello to anyone and everyone. I'm still waiting on what people refer to as stranger danger, Jase doesn't know what that is!

Jase had a great birthday this year with family. Scott and I decided that we wanted to spend Jases' birthday at home this year this year, for many reason, and I think we're glad we did. Family came up to celebrate his birthday and Easter as well, which was the following day. Saturday, on Jases actual birthday, we made Jase Mickey pancakes, went to the Mikey Grove Zoo and BBQ hamburgers! It was a perfect day celebrating our boy.

Scott and I can't wait to see what this year brings and how Jase will grow!

Santa Cruz

Last weekend we got to get away and take Jase to Santa Cruz with my parents. When I was little our family went every year and those memories I have of the boardwalk, the beach and my grandparents are some of the best! I was so excited to take Jase and all around excited to get away with family.

Jase seems to be at a great age to take it all in! He loved the sand, the water and the rides! I actually think if he could tell us beyond pointing, whining and saying "Weeee" that he would have loved to go on the big kid rides, mostly the Big Dipper! I think we all had a fun and relaxing weekend! It didn't hurt that the weather was basically perfect!

Thanks Mom and Dad for making this such a special trip!

Christmas

Christmas was crazy thing year! We traveled to both of our parents house over the course of four days, or as Scott calls it, the tour of California. Our first stop was at my parents house in Grover Beach. We left Christmas Eve morning with our car loaded with just the bare minimum of what we needed... and gifts. Scott and I are both always a little nervous going into long car rides with Jase because we never know if he'll sleep, cry or a combination of both. Both of us were so surprised when he feel asleep once we ht the freeway since nap time isn't until afternoon, but the car was quiet so we were ok with it. He basically slept until we stopped for lunch in Kettleman. After lunch he was a happy camper until we arrived at my parents house. This was one of the easiest drives we've done since Jase was born. Not any really bad moments... a Christmas miracle!

We basically relaxed when we got to my moms, ate dinner and Jase got to open a gift. My mom wanted him to open three gifts, but he made it through one, and only wanted to play with that gift. Jase went to bed pretty easy and had a good night of rest to make him ready for Santa bright and early. Opening presents was an all day thing for Jase, he just couldn't focus and thats OK. He literally started at 7AM and ended opening before bed time!

Christmas Day was so great. Our family friends, the Stanley's, came over in the morning to hang out for a bit. Jase enjoyed playing with Sam and Violet and all of us enjoyed watching them play together. Later in the afternoon the Knight Family came over for dinner. Lucy got to help Jase open some more gifts and Ben enjoyed playing with toys. It was so much fun to watch all the kids together, truly heart warming.

We stayed at my parents until Friday afternoon and then headed to Fresno to Scott's parents. We got into Fresno just in time for dinner. Jase got to open his big gift from Scotts parents and then it was off to bed. Saturday morning we went to see Brandon and Whitney and visit for a bit. It was nice to see them since we weren't able to make it to the wedding because of everything going on with losing Timothy at that time. It's always good to catch up with them. After that I had a coffee date with Kristen at Starbucks, our girl time is always needed and refuels me for a bit. Jase opened the rest of his gifts in the morning and later that day Scott's cousins came into town from LA. We had dinner with them and just hung out. Sunday morning we went to the Morello's house for brunch with Scott's family and then headed to the Birchfield's to let Hunter and Jase play a bit before we had to drive back to Lodi.

This Christmas, like I said earlier, was just crazy, but oh so much fun! Watching Jases' face light up when he opened a gift was nothing short of amazing. Hanging out with family is always cherished. I will be honest and say I was a little worried how I'd feel this Christmas, since losing Timothy is still so fresh, but it was still amazing and we have SO much to be thankful for. Being with family makes everything a little bit easier to deal with also.

Here are some a lot pictures from our Christmas Week.
